not much lately as other work has taken priority ( back on my friends canal boat sorting out a diesel fuel pump problem )......... Here the pivot assembly now has an extended thread so a gentle "nip" can be obtained by the use of a nyloc nut.......whilst the opposing axleboxes are being held firmly at max. distance with a simple jig, such that I can check the all-important Back-to-back measurement....This should be 4 + 11/16 inch LESS 0.015" running clearance.....

here the 4 - 5 inch Mic is being used to obtain an accurate reading---------- n notice how the bogie frame is actually narrower than it should be ?? due to the builder's use of those small and off-set ball bearings seen earlier.......I'm currently machining some steel spacer blocks to compensate for this, but have to bear in mind the need for a running clearance between the hubs of the wheelset and the outer faces of the axleboxes.....More photos later to show what I mean.... So now it's back to the friends Canal boat and more rectification work on the injection pumps !!...

Well-------- that was a great day's work down at 't cut !!.... The AS2 engine is now idling over with the traditional "Thump......thump......thump" from the exhaust...so just a few copper washers to anneal then it's all ready for sale..... Meanwhile I've part-machined one spacer block....Due to it's small size I first soft soldered it to a piece of BDMS block by the usual tinning then sweating method to help hold it in the Vert. miller's machine vice... A quick check shows that the desired running clearances have been obtained, so all should be ok when I finally press the other wheel back on.... I had considered changing to split boxes but these days life is too short....PS}-- note the deliberate overhang such that I can get a 1" mic. in to take measurements..

Thanks Chris,
Their 300mm vertical one seems to fit the bill--------- I'd rather buy from a known retailer in any event -------- I visited them a few years ago and have bought a few items as well.........
I feel a sale coming on !!...........Cheers
Alan
