( Run a hot-box at Chester--Loco and train recovered to Hereford by Chester's pilot Class 47 diesel.....

---------- the "Black 5's" of the diesel world, in a way.......I thought those that had the GWR livery applied to them carried it quite well........

hi alan, i forgot to reply to your 'top feed' query. i specified a top feed bush (plus crown girder stays extending to the outer wrapper and a few other alterations) on a new SUPER SIMPLEX boiler Reg Chambers built for us. he forgot the top feed bush so had the boiler back and silver soldered a bush into place in a few minutes with his oxy-acetylene. i think you know someone near you who could do a similar job! cheers, julian

One has to ask why they made a god awful job of fitting the rear airline pipe....

Maybee the grey is a paint that wont burn off and when slathered with cylinder oil goes black.

After a bit of heat, a bit of oil and a bit of soot it will be 50 shades of grey.

Here's just a small update-------After the chemical de-paint and water wash I've been concentrating on the fiddly bits such as the existing handrail knobs and the location and fitting of some new ones at the tank's front/top location...Some 7BA blanking bolts in various places to tidy the look and then 2 coats of Hycote SATIN BLACK................. dry in airing cupboard ..........mask-off..............2 coats of Hycote FORD IVORY.........dry in airing cupboard............take photos...Next up will be fitting }--- glazing to cab windows, handrails, Decals etc....... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ......................................................................................

Additional}----- At Bristol bought 2 off, No.4 Injectors ( 3/16" pipe )from Blackgates, found 2 off, 180 degree water valves in my stock plus a pair of surplus 90 degree clack valves ( 3/16" pipe)------ Goodbye to by-pass pump and "hello" to prototype running.....( OK, so I have kept the Emergency Hand Pump as well )...............................

Hi matey !!-------- was that a little "dig" there ??---------But that does give me an idea though ie a competition on this thread for a suitable name !!...It already has a fleet No. ( No.5 ) but something obscure such as one of the National Coal Board members etc. ??----------- 1st prize will be driving No.5 on one lap of it's home track at Kinver---------- 2nd. prize will be ?? ( Yes, that's right = 2 laps ).......The rest of this week is given over to finishing my 1980 Triumph 750 Bonneville TR7...The next scheduled work is the fitting of hand rails, glazing the cab windows and applying the livery.............
