Wasn't Lord Robens the Chair of NCB? And Derek Ezra. There is always King Arthur's American opponent, brought in by Maggie, the one and only Tesco bag over the head - Ian McGregor.
Not very inspiring.
How about Attlee - after the PM when the NCB was created?

'Morning Alan,
She's looking good.
If it's Granville Colliery how about "Arkwright" for a name.................from "Open All Hours".
Thought the connection might appeal to your sense of humour.
Regards,
John.

Hello young Mr Dunn-------or, as it's an old loco then maybe you meant The Ark, right ??--------Open all hours is apt for a Colliery as well !! EDIT}--------- the green cylinder cover will be painted later on, along with some other misc. items outstanding..( Roof, tank tops etc.).........

Since that last posting my workshop has been inundated with various craftsmen building the front porch and re-fencing the front garden etc....Firstly they've stored their tools in there,-----------then the work was put on hold due to this rain, --------- Now he last job has just been finished and I SHOULD, repeat SHOULD have possession handed back this week-end, when it'll be the first job to be continued............I want to put a pair of feedwater clack valves at the front of the boiler, and have bought a nice big sheet of 3mm cork insulation at the Motorcycle Show recently..... Two NEW injectors and a pair of 90 degree water valves are waiting PLUS---- I've already removed that ( urrghhh !...can't even bring myself to say the word ) BY-PASS PUMP and pipes = HOO-Rayyyy !!!!----That entitles me to 3 JULIAN "BONUS POINTS" ---- PS}---My Parallel Scot ran on 2 injectors as will The Bear and 2857...

hi alan, the tanks look excellent though could your engineers rule not measure half way up?! cheers, julian ------------ It's an optical illusion...Look carefully and you'll see that the bottom of the tank is not where the eye tells you it to be.....Besides, I measured half way down....and I claim NCB "Appearance" rights as well.......LoL !...............I'm wondering if those NCB letters aren't a tad too big ( I have another set that are approx 1/3 smaller----they're decals which I might be able to "Un-Stick" carefully )..........What does the team think ?...UPDATE}---- I'd forgotten this bit}---- I had thought about a nameplate to go there as well.......Rex came up with Ann Thracite which fit's the scenario quite nicely-----Anyone care to cast me a pair of plates ??

Hello all, well Cadbury has been stored up the head shunt for the next few weeks while I do some more work on this little rascal..........Last night I put it on the main workbench and found that both weighshaft bearings were well and truly k-nackered...So it's off with the running boards and check all the motion bearings while we're at it ( Not surprising as it's an early-build model with a LOT of running time at Kinver.)............

And here's to-day's efforts......... A closer look reveals that 3 wheels need re-profiling but it seems that there is enough metal left in the worst case one to not require re-tyring....Phew !!................................ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and here are the offending items at last !!.....They both have a "flat" machined on the collar....Any ideas as to what that's for ??............. I'll have to dig out the drawings and take a peek......... Yes, that's the "Persuader" you can see there..............................

Hello Marc-------- A local graphics company here in Telford did them for me, BUT-------(there's always a "But")....... they've closed down !!.....However I do have a spare pair of the "No.5" and "N.C.B." as seen in the photo above, but no "Granville Colliery" at all...............You can have them at cost ie}--- £10 plus Postage if you like ??...........Is this the one you have in mind ??.............

Hi Alan,
The flats on the bushes are perhaps to give clearance for the wheel flange? The bushes are quite close.
I'm surprised the bushes are so worn. There shouldn't really be any rotation of the shaft except when operating the reverser. Maybe there's some slop in the reverser screw/nut allowing the shaft to rock when the locos running?

Hi John---- yes, lots of slop I'm afraid...One of the bushes has actually come out of the frame plate...On closer inspection I think they are BRASS !!..I've re-drawn them with a longer tail to give better support and I'm thinking that well-greased mild steel ones might be more resilient ?? ......Wheel treads need re-profiling but I'm going to run it for the 2015 season then we'll have a wheel-dropping session next Autumn and a visit to the Machine Shop and see what we can "Turn" up ??........ I came to that same conclusion re}--- tread clearance as well.. Unfortunately I hadn't looked closely OR taken some photos before dismantling...Naughty Hagley, breaking one of the Golden Rules of Preservation/Re-Building...... ( Slaps wrist with wet Lettuce leaf !!)........Have completed stage 1 with the de-painting of the running boards..... Another session of paint stripper to-morrow should see me ready to repair and strengthen the cab steps.....

Yes that's the one...just in the process of stripping, reworking a few bits and getting it painted with some help from friends at the club. Really enjoying it and learning lots! Thank you for your very kind offer of selling your spares but I think I'm going to have a go and making some with that transfer paper and see how it goes. Yours looks fantastic!
