The state the BBC is in just now, they probably did him a favour. Guy comes across as a likeable lad though I was a bit disappointed with the first show in this series. We were holidaying in Hawes at the end of March and walked up round by Gayle Mill and came across Guy doing a piece to camera outside the mill, spent the rest of the evening trying to remember what his name was and what it was he always said........by 'eck we eventually remembered. On the whole I quite enjoy what he's doing and look forward to the rest of the series.

Sadly, the cost of fuel has put me off this year after 5 or 6 years of attending, hope you all enjoy it though.

Funnily enough, I know this as well. Despite reading Chris's book cover to cover and making appropriate notes I still managed to achieve what Chris has just stated........I then went back to his book to find out what I'd done wrong and there it was in black and white, how the hell did I miss it and cock it up? Nae idea, but that's one mistake I'll never make again, and hopefully you won't make it even once !

Well of course maybe it was only the nice wifie in India who reckoned there was a time limit.....that is maybe the opening gambit in stopping you from pursuing getting your money back, and it maybe works quite a lot of the time, say for fifty quid, but as it was £250 in my case I wasn't giving up at the first hurdle.

There is a time limit though for getting a refund via credit card, I think it's 6 months...I paid a deposit about 2 years ago for a suite at Land of Leather, about 3 days later they closed the doors but kept us hanging on by promising that we would actually get our suite, when eventually I realised that we wouldn't [ I read that fact on some statement on their website that was only there briefly] I contacted credit card company, got through to a very nice wifie in India only to be told that there was a time limit for submitting a claim, however I persisted and as we hadn't actually been told directly that we wouldn't get the suite by the company, I did get my money back quite quickly albeit 9 months after handing over the deposit.

The model engineering is obviously a therapy in itself, lovely work Shawki, keep well and stay away from Plazas.

Nice of you to acknowledge the input Geoff. It was just an impulse buy by me at Harrogate as I wasn't looking for hinges at the time but as soon as I saw them I thought they would do for a 5" tender I'm working on, now that you've inadvertently reminded me that I've got them maybe I should dig the tender oot again. You're quite close in your guesstimate Donald, the holes are 1mm.

Being a thoughtful kind of chap I've given both options, tho' perhaps the photo gives away my preference JB

Apart from anything else, I personally found Keith's reply with the breakdown of costs very informative.

Looks very interesting Pete, good luck with it. I'm sure you know this...but....when I stripped a Maisie atlantic [that I hadn't built myself] for painting, I took dozens of photos from all angles and then took dozens more to ensure I could fit everything back the right way and I'm blooming glad I did !

This has maybe been posted on here already, apologies if it has. I've only just found it on this very wet day in Scotland and it has enlightened my day, a fascinating bit of documentary
