I just tried to upload a few pictures as attachments and the site throws and error that the Forum attachment limit has been reached. Does that mean that it's the end of adding pictures that way?

How bizarre, I've logged out, then back in again. I've tried different photos and adding them here instead and it just doesn't work. Can anyone in Admin shed any light on this?

Hi Roger Are you uploading directly or are you using a host site like Photobucket which is what I use, my upload today was about 8 mb, yesterday's was larger but not directly to the forum which may be where your problem is? I'm no expert so please forgive me if I have this totally wrong and you are using a host that I can't see, which is more than likely... Pete

Pete Thanks Pete, I was uploading to the Forum, which appears to be what most people do. I guess that's the end of being able to do it that way. I'll have to look at one of those hosting programs then. Roger

I have no ideas or suggestions.
Tel might, but I will also send a message to Andy, and see what he says.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work either. If I click the 'Insert Image' icon and then paste the URL of a Flickr photo I want to show, it just shows a tiny icon on the page which doesn't link to the photo. See below....

Hi Roger We did have a problem like this a year or so back where we had reached the limit and we had to pay for extra storage space. However if there is a picture below this text that is not the issue, and it would appear to be something related to your account. Regards Paul
Picture gone theres a bit more space

I can see your picture Paul, and it appears to be an attachement to the site rather than a link to something hosted elsewhere. This is the link it points to... modeleng.proboards.com/attachment/download/3667I have no idea what the problem is but it's a pain. If I inspect the elements on the HTML version of the page, the links are all there and correct, they just don't show a thumbnail and they don't seem to create a viable link. Maybe someone can look at that and spot where the problem lies. Roger

yep the picture is a file downloaded and attached to the post so the site limit has not been reached. Sorry I can't help you any further. Tel is probably your best bet

Hi Roger,
I was wondering if perhaps your images (individually) are too large. With modern cameras, the images can be many megabytes each.
The message from the site might be misleading?!
Chris.

A good thought but no, they are all about 2.6MB which is what all the other ones are. They're taken on a SmartPhone so the camera isn't that amazing.

I use dropbox, and find the standard links don't work. But there's a "shorter link" option which seems to do it for me.

Do you still use the little 'Insert Image' icon on the toolbar here? What do you mean by a 'shorter link' and how do you create one? Cheers, Roger

Yes, I use the insert image feature. The dropbox program can give me a full URL to my image, but if I paste that in between the tags, it doesn't seem to work. But Dropbox gives me a shortened URL as an option, which does work. Look up URL shortening in Wikipedia.

Googling it also came up with a URL shortening tool by google so I'll try that here now and see if it works. Thanks for the tip. Roger P.S. Nope, that didn't work either... the icon above is all that shows.

Well, our payment for extra storage is still coming out every month and I can't see that we are anywhere near the limit - I'll look into it.
