I came through a church of England primary school and a early secondary modern in the fifties if you did not understand the first time you was left behind and ignored you was classed as thick.Graham

Hi Steve it is expensive but reasonable when you compare it to one of the very small oxygen sets. I use it for small boiler fittings where it is easier to manage than having the sievert torch and pipes to move about.Graham

Hi for silver soldering boiler type fittings in brass/bronze up to 5/8 diameter and steel up to 4mm i use the toolstation mapp gas torch it has a very precise flame about a inch or just over in length and about 5/16 wide. With the parts standing on ceramic brick it gets the parts up to temperature quite quickly and saves getting the big torch and propane out for small jobs.Graham

Also on production capstans the part off in the rear tool position would be ganged up with the front tool to go to a stop and bring the part off across without moving the saddle.Rear part off tools are not infallible i have had them break and they come straight at you at high speed, on production you are pushing the machines hard and tools do break not just chip.Graham

Also with a split bush a counter bore in the end and you can face or clean up very thin parts and keep them parallel.

Out of interest, for the rivet counters among us...
Spot the difference...
The shovel has moved it is outside and some thieving swine has nicked the lining
